VCAS Field Officers are on duty 24 hours-per-day, 365 days-a-year. Should you need the assistance of an officer in the late evening or very early morning when we are closed, call 805-388-4341 and select “OPTION 4“.  If you found a lost pet that you brought home and are able to care for them until we open the next morning, please do so.  If the animal appears sick or injured, immediately call us for pick-up.

General services provided by VCAS Field Officers:
  1. Quarantine of animals who have bitten a human.
  2. Picking up stray dogs.
  3. Reuniting lost pets with their owners
  4. Door-to-door licensing canvasing
  5. Deceased animal pick-up on the streets (see above chart)
Field Services NOT provided by VCAS Field Officers:
  1. Picking up Wildlife (Unless sick or injured)
  2. Picking up Marine Mammals
  3. Picking up deceased animals on the freeway (Please call CalTrans at (213) 897-3656)
  4. Quarantine of animals who have bitten other animals (Animals who bite other animals do not need to be quarantined)
